Do I need to be in uniform for an AMC flight? ›

Uniforms are not required for AMC flights, but please have ready access to your DOD ID card (CAC) and your tags (dog tags). Will my bags transfer to the AMC flight? NO! Please make sure to collect your luggage from your commercial flight and take it to the AMC counter to be rechecked.

Each passenger may check two pieces of luggage up to 70 pounds and 62 linear (length+width+height) inches each. Motorized assistance equipment may not exceed 100 pounds in weight. Luggage allowances may be combined per family, e.g. 4 checked items are allowed for a 2-passenger family (Pooling baggage).

In both cases (EML and Emergency) CONUS-to-CONUS travel is not authorized. Dependents using EML unaccompanied by their sponsor would travel CAT-IV. Also, DoDDS Teachers stationed overseas are eligible for Space-A when on EML. More info on EML is available here.

Some terminals must collect a head tax or a federal inspection fee from Space A passengers on commercial contract missions. Meals may be purchased at a nominal fee out of most air terminals while traveling on military aircraft. Meal service on AMC Category B full planeload charters is complimentary.

On commercial contract missions, AMC's goal is for a passenger to receive the seat they desire (no guarantees of course) and an aircraft seat map is used to show locations of available seats. All passengers regardless of age, traveling on AMC owned or operated airlift will have an assigned Space-A seat.

What size of baggage can I carry on with me on the aircraft? Passengers are permitted one, 45-linear inch (length + width + height), hand-carried item, e.g. small suitcase, garment bag, backpack. This item must fit under the seat or in available overhead compartments in the cabin area.

Passengers are reminded that baggage limitations are: 2 bags per individual, limited to 70 pounds max weight per bag and not to exceed the dimensions of 62 linear inches. Excess baggage is not allowed for space a travel.

Most airlines allow passengers to bring on both a carry-on and a personal item like a backpack, laptop bag, purse, briefcase, shopping bag, etc. The general rule of thumb is that your personal item is smaller in dimension than your carry-on bag and it can fit underneath the seat in front of you.

What planes does AMC fly? ›

AMC has approximately 110,000 Total Force personnel. The command operates the C-5 Galaxy, KC-10 Extender, KC-46A Pegasus, C-17 Globemaster III, C-130 Hercules, C-130J Super Hercules and KC-135 Stratotanker.

ANSWER: Except EML and emergency travel, family members must be accompanied by the sponsor to fly Space A. Family members may travel to/from and between overseas locations but not within the CONUS unless manifested on domestic leg segments of international travel.

Space-A travel costs nothing but is allowed only on a non-mission interference basis. Retired active Service members are eligible for Space-A travel. family members (with a valid identification card) of retired service members are eligible when accompanied by a sponsor.

Service members and their families can use Space-A flights – formally known as Military Airlift Command or MAC flights – to travel around the country and world at a reduced cost or for free. Though sometimes unpredictable, military flights are perfect for families with flexible plans and limited travel budgets.

Flight dress codes

Clothing must cover the upper part of the torso, such as a tank or halter top. Clothing must cover the lower part of the torso, such as shorts. Passengers must wear footwear unless the guest cannot do so due to a disability or physical condition that prevents them from doing so.

Flight attendant attire is essential to the aviation industry, serving functional and aesthetic purposes. In addition, the uniform helps identify cabin crew as approachable and willing to assist passengers while conveying professionalism and trustworthiness.

Dress appropriately; bare feet or offensive clothing aren't allowed. Not threaten the safety of the flight in any way. Have the right travel documents and be allowed to travel to, from or through any countries in your itinerary. Be able to sit with your seatbelt fastened.
